Jozankei or Lake Shikotsu Suizantei? Choose one ryokan night

The author stayed at both Suizantei properties on separate trips. Compare the same night by shuttle origin, lake or onsen-town time, room and meal contract, then keep one booking.

The author stayed at Suizantei Club Jozankei and Lake Shikotsu Daiichi Hotel Suizantei on separate trips. This is not a same-date price test or a booking made through this article.

Two Suizantei names can appear in the same hotel search, but they solve different Hokkaido nights. Suizantei Club Jozankei connects naturally to a Sapporo stay and its current complimentary shuttle starts near Odori; Lake Shikotsu Daiichi Hotel Suizantei belongs to a Chitose and lakeside plan and its current shuttle starts at JR Chitose Station. The author personally stayed at both properties on separate trips, and separately visited Jozankei in autumn and Lake Shikotsu in winter. Those records explain the feel of the two locations, but they do not freeze today's room, meal, shuttle, price or availability. Set the same date and travellers, choose the location that fits the nights before and after, and keep only one room.

FOUR FIRSTHAND RECORDS / TWO SEPARATE TARGET-HOTEL STAYSThe author stayed at both Suizantei properties, but not under equal dates or rates

The first two records are genuine stays at the two hotels being compared. The other two are separate area visits. None permits one property's room, bath, food, shuttle or service to be assigned to the other, and none replaces the current official page or the complete selected Trip.com rate.

Suizantei Club Jozankei — the author's own winter stay

The author stayed here in winter and recorded her room, in-room hot-spring bath and meals. Her old room, menu, price and service are not current Trip.com inclusions.

Lake Shikotsu Daiichi Hotel Suizantei — the author's separate stay

The author stayed at this separate lakeside property and recorded her room, bath and meals. It was not a same-night comparison with Jozankei or an order through this page.

The author stayed at both target properties on separate trips, not on the same date, room type, meal plan or cancellation terms. They are separate hotels in separate cities with separate booking and shuttle confirmations. Current room name, bath, meals, total, age eligibility, access, shuttle, payment and cancellation must be verified for the actual travel date.

01

Short answer: use the night before and after to choose the region

Choose Jozankei first when the surrounding itinerary remains anchored in Sapporo, you can use Odori as the shuttle origin and an onsen-town walk belongs in the plan. Choose Lake Shikotsu first when Chitose is already on the route and the purpose of the night is the lakeside setting and unhurried time inside the ryokan.

This is not a universal ranking of luxury. Write the previous hotel, next destination and any flight on one timeline, then test only the property whose access joins that line. The shared Suizantei name does not make the two reservations interchangeable, so one night should end with one room.

02

Firsthand boundary: two real stays, not one controlled comparison

The author stayed at Suizantei Club Jozankei in winter and recorded her room, in-room hot-spring bath, dinner, breakfast and time inside the property. On another trip she stayed at Lake Shikotsu Daiichi Hotel Suizantei and recorded a different room, bath, dinner and breakfast. Both are genuine target-property stays.

They happened under different dates, room types and travel circumstances. The author also walked near Futami Bridge and visited the Lake Shikotsu ice festival on separate occasions. These records help explain how each location can shape a night; they cannot prove equal service, today's menu, price, availability or the result of a Trip.com booking.

Enter the real check-in and checkout dates, room count and every traveller's real age. Confirm the full property name and address, exact room and bed, in-room bath wording, breakfast and dinner, dietary limits, taxes, payment, cancellation and final total. The hotel's current rule accepts guests aged 13 or older. Its Odori shuttle is limited and reservation-only; obtain a separate seat confirmation and recheck the travel-date timetable and boarding point.

03

Similar names hide two cities, two front desks and two contracts

Suizantei Club Jozankei is in Jozankei Onsen in Sapporo's Minami Ward. Lake Shikotsu Daiichi Hotel Suizantei is in the Lake Shikotsu Onsen area of Chitose. The hotel group connection explains the name, but does not merge their addresses, room inventories or guest confirmations.

Before payment, place the full property name, address, phone number, selected room name and Trip.com confirmation together. Do not navigate using only the word Suizantei, and do not ask one front desk to validate the other property's shuttle. Resolve any mismatch with the seller and the actual hotel before travelling.

04

The shuttle origin is the practical dividing line

Suizantei Club Jozankei currently describes a complimentary, capacity-limited shuttle from near Odori in central Sapporo. Lake Shikotsu Daiichi Hotel Suizantei currently describes a separate limited shuttle from JR Chitose Station. Neither description creates an airport pickup, a through-ticket or a seat on the other route.

Book the room and shuttle as two separate contracts. Obtain the property's explicit shuttle reply, save the boarding point and time, then recheck the travel-date timetable, luggage handling and disruption information. If a seat is unavailable, compare the full alternative transport before deciding whether that hotel still fits.

05

Age and mobility checks come before room photographs

Both official sites currently state that guests must be aged 13 or older. A platform may still display a child field or search result; that does not mean the property accepted a traveller aged 12 or younger. Enter real ages and obtain a clear answer before payment rather than testing the rule at check-in.

Both properties also describe slopes, steps or changes in floor level. The platform's booking-lead age and the hotel's guest-age rule are different checks, as are minor travel and accessibility needs. Send the exact mobility or age question to the actual property and seller when the group cannot safely rely on stairs or assumptions.

06

Compare the exact room and meal rights, not the hotel names

The author's Jozankei room had an in-room hot-spring bath, and her Lake Shikotsu room had its own documented bath arrangement. That evidence belongs only to those selected rooms on those stays. A current room can differ in bath, hot-spring supply, bed, size, view and layout even inside the same property.

Meals are equally rate-specific. Compare breakfast and dinner inclusion, dining venue, start time, late-arrival rule and dietary response on the exact selected rate. Neither the old food photographs nor a half-board result on the other hotel page adds a meal to a room-only contract.

07

Choose an onsen-town evening or a more self-contained lakeside night

Jozankei can support a walk around the onsen town or Futami area before or after check-in, subject to season, traffic, snow, daylight and business hours. The author's autumn visit proves she walked there once; it does not promise today's foliage, road time or a safe route from every room.

Lake Shikotsu is a stronger fit when the lake and time inside the ryokan are the point of the night. The official FAQ warns that the immediate onsen area lacks a convenience store, pharmacy and supermarket, so bring required medicine and essentials before arrival. A seasonal festival remains a separate ticket, timetable and weather-dependent event.

08

Chitose on the address does not make Lake Shikotsu an airport hotel

Lake Shikotsu is within Chitose, but the property is not in the airport terminal or beside JR Chitose Station. Its current shuttle uses the station on a limited schedule, after which an airport-bound traveller still needs a separate segment. Early flights, international procedures, luggage and winter roads need additional margin.

Jozankei is not an airport hotel either; its current shuttle is oriented toward Odori and therefore fits a Sapporo sequence more naturally. When missing a flight is the dominant risk, compare a Sapporo or Chitose city last night first. A map's straight-line distance should not override the actual transport chain.

09

Do not compare search-page lowest prices

Prices, discounts, room inventory and ratings on both Trip.com pages can change. Enter the same dates, the same number of travellers aged 13 or older, the same room count and a genuinely comparable meal basis. Then compare the tax-inclusive total, exact room and bath, meals, payment, cancellation and latest arrival.

If one result includes two meals and the other is room-only, add the realistic dinner plan and local availability before deciding. If one shuttle is full, add replacement transport. The useful total is the cost of a night the group can actually reach and use, not the smallest number shown under different conditions.

10

Final order: route, eligibility, room, shuttle, then remove the duplicate

First fix the previous night and next destination. Second confirm that every traveller meets the age rule and can use the property safely. Third compare the two exact rooms under equal dates, travellers, meals, totals and cancellation terms. Fourth book one property and separately secure its matching shuttle or other transport.

After both the room and transport are confirmed, remove the other cart or cancellable backup within its own valid terms. Only then attach an onsen-town walk, lake activity or airport movement. The two hotels will not automatically cancel, transfer or transport each other's guests, even though their names share Suizantei.

FAQ

Hotel comparison FAQ

Are the two Suizantei hotels the same property or one booking?

No. They belong to the same hotel group, but Suizantei Club Jozankei is in Sapporo and Lake Shikotsu Daiichi Hotel Suizantei is in Chitose. Their addresses, rooms, meals, shuttles, confirmations and cancellation terms are separate. Keep only one room for the same night.

Can a child aged 12 or younger stay at either hotel?

Both official sites currently say guests must be aged 13 or older. A booking interface accepting a child age does not override the property's rule. Enter every real age and obtain confirmation before payment; if the group is ineligible, do not book.

Does the complimentary shuttle come with the room?

No. Jozankei currently uses an Odori boarding point, while Lake Shikotsu currently uses JR Chitose Station. Both are limited, reservation-only services. A room confirmation is not a shuttle confirmation; secure and save them separately.

Is Lake Shikotsu automatically the safer last night before a flight?

No. The hotel is not inside New Chitose Airport or beside JR Chitose Station, and its shuttle does not meet every flight. Work backwards from airline and baggage deadlines, add the separate station-to-airport trip and preserve winter delay margin.

Do both hotels guarantee an in-room onsen and dinner?

No. The author's rooms and meals show only what she received on those past stays. Bath type, hot-spring wording, view and meal inclusion vary by current room and rate. Read the complete selected contract instead of relying on the hotel name or photographs.

Safe travels.
