Feriendorf Cottage or Glamping Tent? Choose one Tokachi stay

Choose a cottage or seasonal glamping tent at Tokachi Nakasatsunai Glamping Resort Feriendorf by checking showers, beds, BBQ arrangements, pets, weather and the exact Trip.com room name.

Start with the facility boundary that can change the whole evening. A cottage is the clearer starting point when a private shower, indoor kitchen, contained routine or off-season stay matters. A current glamping tent is the outdoor-first choice for dates inside its stated season when everyone accepts separate bathing and weather exposure. The author stayed in an older large tent and used the BBQ area in 2019, but she did not stay in either current official tent type or a current cottage. This guide therefore keeps the old experience separate from official information checked on September 13, 2026 and the complete selected Trip.com rate.

Feriendorf — the author's own 2019 older-tent stay

The author stayed in an older large tent and used the outdoor BBQ setup in 2019. The record proves no current Large Tent, Dome Tent, cottage, season, equipment, meal, pet rule, spa access, price, availability or Trip.com booking.

Firsthand evidence is limited to one 2019 stay in an older large tent and that trip's BBQ. The author did not test the current official Large Tent, Dome Tent, current cottages, present spa conditions or this Trip.com booking. Current facility claims were checked against Feriendorf's official pages on September 13, 2026. Actual room name, occupancy, beds, bathroom, towels, meals, pet rules, taxes, payment, cancellation, price and inventory come only from the complete selected rate and any matching written property reply.

01

The short answer: choose facilities or choose the tent experience

Choose a cottage if a private shower, indoor kitchen, contained sleeping space or year-round availability matters more than sleeping under canvas. Choose a current glamping tent if the outdoor setting is the point and everyone accepts seasonal operation, separate bathing and a closer relationship with nighttime temperature and weather.

Four questions usually settle the choice. Are your dates inside the tent season? Does anyone need a private shower near the bed? Will children, luggage or a pet make movement around the grounds difficult? Do you still want to prepare and eat outside when the evening turns cool? If comfort and predictability dominate those answers, start with a cottage.

What the author actually experienced in 2019

The author stayed in an older large tent at Feriendorf in 2019 and used the outdoor BBQ setup. Her photographs show the reception, tent exterior and night interior, grills, a water container and a cooking station. For that trip, glamping reduced equipment and setup work while keeping dinner and the night outdoors.

That record does not establish any room specification sold in 2026. The photographed tent predates the current official Large Tent and Dome Tent descriptions, so this guide does not call it either one. Old capacity, equipment, season, food, spa, pet and price statements are not carried forward.

Ad|Trip.comCheck Feriendorf rooms for your dates on Trip.com

Enter your real dates and every guest's correct age. Confirm the exact property name and Nakasatsunai address, then read the complete room name, beds, capacity, private bathroom or shower, towels, meals, BBQ conditions, pet rules, taxes and fees, payment timing and cancellation terms. An OTA room label is not proof that a room is the same tent photographed in 2019 or that a property-level facility exists inside the selected room. If the room detail does not prove an essential facility, stop and ask the property before paying.

03

Compare current categories before comparing rates

The current official accommodation page separates year-round cottage descriptions from glamping tents, whose stated season runs from late April to late October. The standard cottage description includes a kitchen and shower room. The current Large Tent and Dome Tent descriptions each list two single beds, two low cots, a sheltered dedicated BBQ space, selected tools, lighting and portable power.

Use those facts only as a screening tool. Feriendorf has several cottage families, and Trip.com's English room labels may not mirror the Japanese official names word for word. Never extend a facility shown for a special cottage to every cottage, or move a property-level amenity inside a tent without explicit room-detail evidence.

04

Apply the season gate first

Feriendorf's current accommodation page states that glamping tents operate from late April through late October. This gate can remove the tent before price or photographs matter. A general season is not a promise that every tent opens on every date inside it.

For a winter trip, or when only cottages appear after entering dates, compare cottage categories. Near the spring and autumn edges, also check current resort notices because weather, maintenance and sales plans can change what is offered. A 2019 stay cannot extend today's tent season.

05

Beds, shower and towels change the evening routine

The current official Large Tent and Dome Tent descriptions list two single beds and two low cots. Because a live reservation screen controls occupancy, enter every adult and child before relying on that arrangement. Do not reuse the larger capacity stated in the old article as a current rule.

The official FAQ says tents have no dedicated shower and no towels inside, while the standard cottage description includes a shower room and kitchen. A voucher for the separate on-site spa does not turn a tent into an en-suite room. A traveller needing a shower beside the bedroom should begin with a suitable cottage.

06

Use the exact room name on Trip.com

The English Trip.com page identifies Tokachi Nakasatsunai Glamping Resort Feriendorf at the Nakasatsunai property target used here. That identifies the property, not a one-to-one match between every English OTA label and the Japanese Large Tent, Dome Tent or named cottages.

Open the exact row you intend to buy. Look for Tent or a complete cottage name, then confirm beds, maximum occupancy, private bathroom or shower, meals, payment and cancellation. If a generic label does not identify an essential facility, compare it with the official page or ask the property before booking.

07

BBQ space, tools, charcoal and food are separate decisions

In 2019 the author bought food and used the BBQ area outside her older tent. Her account records another shopping trip after discovering that small pieces of meat could fall through the grill. The useful lesson is narrow: having a BBQ place is not the same as having every ingredient, consumable and utensil a menu requires.

For a current stay, ask four separate questions: does the selected room have a usable BBQ space, which tools are supplied, is charcoal included for this rate, and are food and drinks included or brought by you? The official food page describes delivered meal options, but only the selected rate determines your contract.

The old cooking station supports the 2019 account only, not a current room-plan inclusion.
08

Children, pets and movement around the grounds

Families should decide with the entire evening in mind, not only the bed count. A child may accept a low cot but still find a cold walk to bathing facilities difficult after dinner. Enter every child's correct age and verify beds and meals rather than assuming a no-charge sharing arrangement.

For pets, the current FAQ is more precise than a property-level filter. Pet stays are generally accepted in designated pet-friendly cottages, while pets may not enter tents. Travellers needing the animal indoors should begin with an eligible pet cottage and confirm species, number, charges, equipment and restricted areas directly.

09

Spa access and food-allergy boundaries

Feriendorf's current FAQ says overnight guests may use Tokachi Airport Spa Sora on the grounds by presenting the bathing voucher issued at check-in. Guests hoping to bathe before check-in are told to ask reception. This is a separate facility, not proof of a private hot spring or every spa service in the room rate.

The FAQ also says the facility cannot individually adjust menus for food allergies. Anyone with a serious allergy or dietary restriction should ask what can be provided before selecting a meal plan. A general BBQ description is not an allergy accommodation.

10

Plan transport before committing to a tent

The official access page gives driving guides of about 15 minutes from Tokachi-Obihiro Airport, 40 minutes from JR Obihiro Station and five minutes from Nakasatsunai Interchange. They are road-time guides, not a shuttle promise. Confirm the route, vehicle and arrival time separately.

Transport also affects the choice after arrival. A car can make food shopping and luggage movement easier, but it does not remove darkness, rain, wind or a cold walk between facilities. Without a car, ask the property what transport actually exists for your date before buying a restrictive rate.

11

Build a weather fallback

A shelter over a BBQ space can help with ordinary rain, but it does not promise suitable outdoor cooking in every condition. The current FAQ notes Tokachi's wide summer temperature range and cold nights and mornings. Pack for the forecast and check resort notices again before departure.

A tent is a poor fit when someone cannot tolerate temperature variation, outdoor movement or a disrupted plan. In that case, reserve a suitable cottage if its exact facilities meet the need, or keep another accommodation option in the itinerary.

12

Who should choose each option—and who should pause

A current tent suits travellers whose central reason for staying is an outdoor night, whose dates fall inside the stated season and who can use separate bathing and confirm their food and BBQ supplies. It does not suit a group expecting an en-suite shower, room towels, indoor cooking, automatic pet access or the equipment shown in a 2019 photograph.

A cottage suits travellers wanting a kitchen-and-shower base, travelling outside the tent season, needing an eligible pet room or preferring a contained routine for children and luggage. Pause when the room name is vague because premium and concept cottages differ; a property-level icon does not place a feature inside every room.

13

Final booking order

Confirm the date is inside the category's operating season; choose tent or cottage; enter every guest; verify beds and occupancy; verify shower, towels and spa access; choose room-only or meals; confirm BBQ tools, charcoal and food; check pet rules; then read taxes, payment and cancellation. Stop if an essential item remains ambiguous.

The Trip.com button opens the exact Feriendorf property page used by this site. Price, currency, inventory, room wording, meals and cancellation can change, so read the complete selected rate for your date. Compare official room descriptions separately and do not treat either source as proof of an unlisted inclusion.

FAQ

Hotel comparison FAQ

Is the Feriendorf glamping tent open all year?

No. The official accommodation page checked on September 13, 2026 states a glamping-tent season from late April to late October. Treat that range as a planning gate, not an availability promise. Enter the exact dates and check current resort notices near either edge of the season.

Does every tent have a private shower and towels?

The current official FAQ says glamping tents do not have a dedicated shower and towels are not provided inside them. Overnight guests are directed to the separate Tokachi Airport Spa Sora using a check-in bathing voucher. Confirm current spa hours, towel arrangements and accessibility needs before choosing a tent.

Is BBQ food or charcoal included?

Do not infer inclusion from the existence of a BBQ area. Read the selected Trip.com rate and the current official food information, then confirm food, charcoal, tools, drinks, delivery timing and anything you must bring before checkout.

Can I stay with a pet in a tent?

The current official FAQ says pets may not enter the tents and generally handles pet stays through designated pet-friendly cottages. If the animal must remain indoors with you, choose an eligible pet cottage and confirm species, number, charges, equipment and restricted areas directly.

Which room name should I choose on Trip.com?

Enter dates and party details first. Open the complete row for Tent or the named cottage, then match beds, occupancy, shower or bathroom, meals and cancellation rights. If the English label does not prove the facility that matters, compare the official room page or ask Feriendorf before paying.

Safe travels.
